Hinman Residence is a 6,000-square-foot Gothic-inspired home. The luxurious two-story structure features a three-story tower, which offers the owner splendid views from his home-office. Gothic Revival character in the tradition of Davis and Downing – steeply pitched gable roof, pointed arch windows with decorative tracery, asymmetrical floor plan, gingerbread trim along eaves and gable edges and leaded glass – provided nuanced style throughout. The living room was designed to accommodate installation of 17th-century (reclaimed) English Oak wood paneling. Stained-glass windows in the stairway add drama to the transition from first and second floors. The high garden wall features recessed Tudor arches, which compliment period details featured throughout the home. The site is completed with a detached “carriage house,” which serves as a two-car garage with in-law suite above.
